About 80% of benign salivary gland tumors are pleomorphic adenomas and mostly, they occur in major salivary glands. The pleomorphic adenoma occurring in external auditory canal is extremely rare. Clinical signs and symptoms are often related to its size and components. In small tumors, it is rather common to be asymptomatic. The most common symptoms of bigger tumors are hearing impairment, ear fullness, otalgia, tinnitus, hemorrhage with local inflammation and otorrhea. In radiologic examination, surrounding tissues such as temporal bone and auricle were rarely invaded. Despite its benign nature and no bony destruction in radiologic examination, wide surgical excision is usually recommended in order to prevent recurrence and possible malignant transformation. We report 2 case of histologically confirmed pleomorphic adenoma of the external auditory canal. We treated it with a wide local excision, and patients are free of any symptom for more than 2 years after surgery.
