Carotid artery dissection(CAD) after trauma is an uncommon condition, but a
significant cause of morbidity in all age groups. CAD after trauma can cause
cerebral infarct and local mass effect related to hematoma formation. Among
them, delayed presentation of traumatic neck hematoma is very rare, and a
significant management challenge for many clinicians. We report a 53-year-
old healthy female patient with common carotid artery dissection with
delayed cervical hematoma formation preceded by blunt neck trauma. |
