¸ñÀû: Statins, also known as HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, have various therapeutic effects including modulating inflammatory responses. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of statins on postoperative outcome and recurrence in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) undergoing endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS). ¹æ¹ý:Of the CRS patients who underwent ESS from 2017 to 2021, 380 patients (82 patients taking statins and 298 patients without statins) who completed follow-up for more than 3 months were enrolled in this study. Subjective symptoms (SNOT-22 and TNSS), postoperative endoscopic scores (Lund-Kennedy endoscopic scores) and olfactory function (KVSS) were compared between statins-taking group and statins-free group. Furthermore, multivariate analysis was performed to investigate the effect of statins on postoperative outcomes including uncontrolled CRS, rate of revision surgery, and rescue medication. °á°ú:Compared to CRS patients without statins, statistically significant decreases were found in the rate of uncontrolled disease in statin-taking CRS patients (43.6% versus 34.5%, P=0.032, respectively) Also in multivariate analysis, statin medication showed significant association with a decrease in the rate of revision surgery (OR = 0.412; P < 0.05 ; 95% CI, 0.179-0.951). However, there was no significant difference in postoperative surgical outcomes including subjective and objective parameters between a statin-taking group and a statin-free group (all, P>0.05). °á·Ð:Statin medication is associated with a decrease in the rate of uncontrolled disease and the prevalence rates of revision surgery in patients with CRS.
